Adopt a Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Heidi has never met a human that she didn’t love.  She would do well with kids, and is overall a big lover that wants to be close to her humans. We’ve rarely heard her growl or bark. She isn’t interested in squirrels or our chickens. Cats could be in danger, but she has gotten use to other dogs that make regular visits.

Heidi is a “back of the pack” dog that will always be more quiet and mellow.  She appreciates when her space is respected by other dogs, and is always open for affection from people.  Heidi will do best in an environment that will give her consistent rules, boundaries, and limitations in order to ensure that she does not try to assume the leadership role.  She thrives under leadership and becomes more confident when she can trust that the people that care for her will protect her.

Heidi needs to be a solo dog.  From time to time, she will attempt to play with others, but she has yet to figure out how to actually play. It always helps for her to be properly introduced to another dog.

Heidi does pretty well on a leash.  She responds well to pressure/release.  She is excited for regular walks.  A walk and leadership from her people brings her curiosity out more and helps her to enjoy being out and about. It seem to improve her confidence

Heidi is kennel trained and prefers the security that a kennel provides. She can be independent of her people, but would prefer to stick close and be near them.

Heidi is heartworm negative, spayed, and vaccinated. She weighs about 47lbs and is about knee high. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition due to a lack of history prior to the dog entering the program.
